NY CON

Journal Entry: Wed Apr 23, 2008, 1:42 AM
Got back from the NY comic con on Monday and had a blast! The only other cons I've attended were Philly ones that paled in comparison to this.

Highlights:

-Got to meet :icondfridolfs: -awesome inker and uber-nice guy

-Met my favorite client and all around, upstanding guy :iconrodcom1000:
signed my first comic at Rod's Vindicator booth. (Maybe he'll sell you a copy if you contact him on DA)

-Saw the creators of the Venture Brothers at a panel discussion. Those guys are actually funnier than the show.

-Shook the hand of :iconseangordonmurphy: and bought some of his original art 'scraps' for 5 friggin dollars. That' guys awesome!

-Saw Dave Chapelle outside a starbucks.

*Apologies to those I didn't get in touch with. It was a full weekend.

Fantastic gallery and talent indeed. I'm surprised you don't get more visitors...
Perhaps you should draw more girls ?;-)
Keep it up anyway.

From what I hear the third was the last for the Raimi crew. I've grown less attached to these movies so I won't lose sleep if they don't continue the franchise. Atleast we have the first two. And yea, Superman is a character that hasn't been done justice in many, many years. The poor guy...

Yeah, seriously. I still liked parts of it and I don't think it was a total failure, but I do think it was a titanic disappointment. I don't have as much of a stake in Spider-Man as I do in Superman, so I'd have a coronary if I talked about the atrocities of the latter's last movie. I hope Raimi and co. come back for a fourth because I'd really hate to see his series go out like that.

Man, Kingsley as the Vulture would've been perfect! There were so many ways that movie went wrong it'll just raise my blood pressure if I think about it. ...fuckin' hollywood...

Yeah, SM3 was a bit disappointing, I have to say. Even though I liked it, it was definitely the worst of the series. They rushed Venom into it just for the sake of having him and I think they killed all the momentum and drama of a great character. The studio should have just let Raimi do his thing and deliver once again some great stuff. He said Ben Kingsley was signed on to play the Vulture and I am positive it would have been a better movie. Fuckin' Hollywood.

I haven't dug into any of the advertising myself, but I heard it goes pretty deep. I wouldn't be surprised if it tops Spider-man. With any hope it will top the Shitstorm, mind-fuck Spider-man 3.

Yeah but it's so cool the intense marketing campaign they're doing. I keep wanting to join in but you really have to sit on the computer and dig deep. It's definitely for the geeks, this thing. But they get awesome stuff like copies of the Gotham Times newspaper and Joker cards. This movie might go through the roof an beat Spider-Man with all the hype and Ledger's death. This thing has the potential now.

Yea, I was just talking about that with my brother. That version of the joke from eighty years ago actually looks cooler. The wait on this movie isn't helped by the fact that they've been promoting it for almost a year. They started way too early with the teasers!
