James Harren, you wild beast. This stuff is looking incredible! Can't wait for Rumble, and I hope all is well with you!

Side note: You don't threshold/bitmap your artwork, do you? You send it to colorists in grayscale?

Thank you Mr. Moore! I definitely send it to Dave grayscaled. Does the work look better in print when you threshold/bitmap it?

Not at all! Quite the opposite, actually; seeing your work in print often makes me want to stop thresholding/bitmapping my stuff.

I really like when work is left grayscaled, specifically stuff like yours with a lot of texture, tones, and whatnot. I sometimes lose subtleties and get ugly jagged edges by thresholding, but more often than not it works well for tight, clean stuff. From a colorist's perspective, it's typically easier to color over thresheld lines, but Dave makes any coloring job look easy and amazing, haha.

Ha! Grass is always greener, Tradd. I'm always staring at your work in print and wishing I could get those clean edges. You have such a better handle on the craft that you can vector your work and not have it go static and stiff. My stuff will most likely always be a bit nasty looking. I'm definitely lucky to have Dave because he can handle work that isn't vectored and clean.

Haha, yep, the grass is indeed always greener. Alas! Humans and our odd thinking. I imagine we can at least sleep soundly knowing that art can look nice no matter which way you prep it, assuming the art isn't shitty prior to printing.

Have a good time at NYCC, by the way! Bummed I couldn't make it out this year, but hopefully we'll be able to meet up and talk shop again sometime before too long, my good sir.

Oof is the sound I audibly make every time you post work.  It's like getting punched in the gut.  But in a good way, so like everyone else, I can't wait to pick this up!

Scheduling's been interesting on this project. A lot of last minute surprises. So I wound up having to do this four page teaser in a weekend I think.

Naah, only in rare circumstances like this. I HATE working that fast. These pages irk the hell out of me. Now I just do a page a day. (7 days a week unfortunately). But last year on BPRD I was doing an issue every 8-10 weeks. That was slow and cushy. I got to add more detail but my head game deteriorated. Five to six issues a year is too slow a turnover for me. Anyway, that was more info than you needed. Ha!

Lol, no prob man! This info is gold for me as an artist. I think 1 page a day is great. If it helps, this Rumble preview pages look amazing. At least as good as your BPRD stuff. So your ideal would be 1 page  day, but having at least 1 day per week to rest? Since this will be an ongoing series, maybe things change a little. This is good for me as a fan because I get to see more stuff from you, but I wouldn't like you to get too stressed and take a long break from doing comics! I'll definitely bother you again with more questions! Thanks a lot, James:)
