The theme was winter over at The Bog: [link] I was trying to re-acquaint myself with the brush after a long break for layouts and pencils. The lettering was done by hand on a separate sheet and turned white digitally.
This piece is an awesome follow-up from your last post from your and Ryan's blog called The Bog. Definitely captured my hatred for the winter season, runny nose and gritting my teeth because it is too cold but I always manage to fight through it, which is what I get from this piece, he's having problems with winter but he is fighting through it, which is what vikings do. I like the feeling that i get at the end of this piece, very cool narrative piece. At the beginning I actually thought a head was popping out of some grass(like he was sleeping and then it snowed the next day, and woke up pissed off because it was so cold), but I did not realize until I looked at it, that it was just the fur off of his coat, I liked that I got another thing out of this piece. Very cool man. Keep up the awesome work. Looking forward for your next entry for The Bog
Absolutely outstanding. Composition, rendering, colour, exaggeration -- the whole thing! That pink nose in the middle of all those cool colours pulls everything so strongly to the center, and then the ice-blue pin-point eyes do the same thing in the pinkish field of the face. I love this.
